3rd International Mining Conference
SGT organised the 3rd International Mining Conference in Athens. The conference took place on March 20th 2013, at the Grande Bretagne Hotel, in Athens.
Greece is considered to have abundant resources of minerals and thus becomes an important European country on this filed. The Mineral Resources in Greece can contribute significantly to the development of the ailing Greek economy. Awareness should be raised concerning the benefits arising from the exploitation of natural resources, as well as the importance of practicing environmentally friendly methods to do so, leading to positive results in the exploitation of minerals in Greece.
The conference themes were
- The potential of the mining sector to foreign investors.
- Update on EU polices. Eu strategy to foster a sustainable supply of raw materials.
- The mining potential in Greece. A major contributor to the economic development.
- The development of natural resources. The Australian example.
- The Canadian example. Social responsibility and sustainable development.
- How to evolve mining without conflict with the local societies.
The conference was under the main title ‘Mineral Resources in Greece: A Driving Force for Economic Development” and it covered all the crucial issues that relate to the contribution of mineral wealth in the social and economic prosperity of Greece and the wider South East Region.
