Since then, the Summit has evolved to become the most important annual event of its kind in Belgrade, where virtually the whole Cabinet of the Republic of Serbia participate to announce official policy and present the country’s economic and political outlook, as well as growth opportunities in various sectors of the economy. Local, regional and international business leaders and decision-makers, as well as representatives of the press, consider the event an annual milestone and a primary meeting point between companies and individuals, that already have or wish to engage in an active role in the region.
Speakers of the Summit have included among others the President of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro Mr. Svetozar Marovic, the President of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Boris Tadic, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Montenegro Mr. Milo Djukanovic, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Professor Miroljub Labus, the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia Mr. Radovan Jelasic, as well as distinguished figures of the European political scene such as Former Prime Minister of Sweden Mr. Carl Bildt and Heads of Diplomatic Missions such as the US Ambassadors to the State Union of Serbia & Montenegro Mr. William Montgomery and Mr. Michael Polt. Heads of top public agencies and private organizations, as well as representatives from major international organizations, such as the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), have also honored the Summit with their participation.
Over 3,000 delegates have attended the previous organizations of the Summit in Belgrade, from local, regional and international public and private entities of Serbia, Greece and many other European countries. The Serbia Summit has been organized under the auspices of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Belgrade), the Council of Foreign Investors (Belgrade), and the Business Council of International Understanding (New York).
