Greece, biennially
The Supebrands institution was initiated by Superbrands Ltd in the UK in 1995. Since then, the Superbrands programs have been established in over 75 countries around the world.
Superbrands aims to operate as an independent authority and arbiter on branding, promote the discipline of branding and pay tribute to exceptional brands. Prominent brands of various products and services in each country are selected, annually or biennially, through the vote of a national Council of experts in combination with commissioned public opinion polls. Crucial data about the selected Superbrands are published in a high-quality Superbrands edition, often referred to as the “Bible of Branding”.
The 2nd Superbrands Greece Awards Ceremony was held on Monday, March 31st 2008, at the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron Mousikis). More than 600 people from the business, political, and media sectors as well as Superbrands country representatives attended this premier branding celebration. Deputy Minister of Development Mr. Stavros Kalafatis addressed the event and handed out the "Golden Sun Awards" to the Local and International brands that scored the highest amongst all brands. The evening was hosted by journalist and anchorwoman Ms. Lina Kleitou and the Vice-Chairman of the Superbrands Council Mr. Anthony Gortzis. Over 250 brands were awarded the Superbrands status, 36 of which – highest score in each category – on stage.
